Oregon Contractor License FAQ
You can only perform projects up to $1,000 in Oregon without a contractor’s license. Also, you can only perform projects that do not include structural components.
Oregon requires a 16-hour pre-licensing training to apply for your contractor’s license. The responsible managing party should take the 16-hour pre-licensing training.
If you have already passed the NASCLA exam you may skip the 16-hour pre-licensing exam. You will still need to pass the Oregon Business, Law, and Project Management exam. You may select Dual Endorsement on the application.
In Oregon, you will need to be bonded to obtain your contractor’s license.
The application fee to become a contractor in Oregon is $325.
If you have employees or three or more officers in Oregon, you must have workers compensation insurance.
There are 80 questions on the Oregon Business, Law, and Project Management exam. You must receive a 70% to pass.
For a Level 1 endorsement, you will need to certify that your key employee(s) have eight years total construction experience.
For a Level 2 endorsement, you will need to certify that your key employee(s) have four years total construction experience.
The contractor application defines the construction experience that is deemed sufficient.
